BRIEF HISTORY OF CORNERSTONE

INTRODUCTION
Cornerstone Presbyterian Church was officially chartered on September 12, 2001 as an independent church. Cornerstone began its nascent development from ZionEM for three years before the church received its independence from Zion Presbyterian Church. By establishing a governmental and structural independence, Cornerstone has a great deal of freedom to exercise multifaceted areas of ministries reaching beyond the confines of specific language and cultural boundaries. Cornerstone seeks to obey the general calling of the Great Commission (Matthew 28:18-20) in conjunction with the specific mandate of reaching the ends of the earth (Acts 1:8) with the Gospel of Jesus Christ.

OUR CALLING
As the mission of Cornerstone takes shape, it is imperative that we consider our calling on two fronts:
1.to carry the gospel to marginalized individuals and families.
2.to reach the unchurched people in our communities.
The former group is categorized as those who have strayed away from God and church over the years due to disappointments and frustrations in their previous commitments to church. They are called marginalized because they neither have a church home to grow in their faith nor could they ever completely separate themselves from the church. The latter group is composed of the many who have not discovered the power and hope of the life changing Gospel of Jesus Christ. With the view of the two groups, our mission summarized succinctly in Ephesians 2:19, 20
