CORNERSTONE SESSION MINUTES

March 2, 2008
• KEP scheduled meeting was held at Hudson church in NJ. The Cornerstone church is hosting next presbytery meeting on June 3 (Tuesday).
• Diaconate will come up with design for a new sign. Hyun soo is working on the new design
• Joe Kim submitted resignation as administration assistance
• TE Na traveled to Cuenavaca, Mexico February 25-28 for upcoming summer mission and provided a report
• Elders were asked to preach during the primary worship service once every two months
• Sonny Chung will preach once a month for 2:00PM service
• RE Steve Jagielski will give a testimony during the Easter Service
• Jubilee, ELM, Grace Point, and Cornerstone will have a morning service at Jubilee church
• TE Na and DW will attend the Southeast Asian Committee conference on March 13-15 at Open Doors Presbyterian Church in Herndon, VA. It is to network with Asian American ministers and its ministries
• TE Na will on vacation for his sister’s wedding March 27-April 1

February 10, 2008
• Cornerstone will host next presbytery shepherding committee meeting (Mar 4th) and presbytery meeting (Jun 3rd) in contingent to diaconate board’s consent
• Currently accepting nominations for officers (last day is Feb 24th). Training will start on March
• TE Steve will have survey visit to Cuernavaca, Mexico (Feb 25-28) and will meet with Missionary James Kim and Oksoon Sohn. TE Steve will look into possibility with helping out and building a relation with a church planting in remote area in Mexico through Missionary James while summer mission team will have VBS in Cuernavaca area through Oksoon’s help
• Summer mission team is currently recruiting and hoping to have 8 to 10 people
• TE Dongwoo gave brainstorm for college ministry. Since we are located where there is no major college around, he came up with following strategies: i. Student leadership; staff guidance/resource ii. Networking among campuses iii. A “meeting” for each campus through student initiative iv. Ministry for homecoming occasions: welcoming dinner and summer retreat
• Session approved TE Steve’s request for a conference – Southeast Asian Committee Conference, Mar 13-15 at Open Door Pres. Church in Herdon, VA. TE Dongwoo will participate as well. Registration is $140

January 6, 2008
• Nomination of officers will be processed during the month of February
• TE Na will survey summer mission field to Mexico sometime in February. He will talk to Ok soon and James Lee
• The 2008 budget is $216,000.00 and the building fund is $34,000.00 was approved. The budget for 2007 was $180,000.00. Will ask the treasure for 2007 actual expenditure including reserve and building fund for future planning purposes
• Sonny Chung will fill the pulpit for the 2:00PM service for his ordination preparation
• Yu won and Gloria Pak will be inducted on January 20, 2008. Yu won will receive baptism and his daughter Murkayla will receive infant baptism
• 1/13- Jonah Yuen’s infant baptism
• 1/20- Murkayla Pak’s infant baptism and Yu Won Pak’s baptism
• 1/27 Martin and Calvin’s membership induction
• Annual congregational meeting will be held on 27 January. ’07 budget expenditure and ’08 new budget will be reported

December 2, 2007
• Due to logistical concerns, the 2:00PM service designed for the Livingstone group will be on hold

November 4, 2007
• Shepherding blocks were reviewed for updates. Pastor Na will redistribute members for shepherding. 102 total members, communicant and non communicant
• Diaconate meeting minutes need to be submitted to session for review
• The KEP Credential committee called a meet regarding the under care and transfer of pastors into the PCA on 13 November at Cornerstone church
• The ’08 summer mission is planned for Mexico with missionary Ok Soon
• Praise team will procure new amplifier for the worship. The current amp is too big for the present sanctuary
• Conference “Gospel Growth vs. Church Growth” that Steve Na attended was about the hand on and personal through small groups. Will provide more detail
• RE Park reported the Livingstone Bible study (college ministry). He is supporting TE Kim every Wednesday at the Temple campus
• After further study, move to the Christopher Dock high school facility was cancelled due to logistical concerns for worship and education matters. It was discussed and voted overwhelmingly during the joint session and diaconate meeting

October 21, 2007
• Financial terms were discussed for the future move
• Providing Sunday school for youth and primary service for Zion was discussed
• TE Na and RE Jagielski will have a meeting with Christopher Dock High school
• Christ community church merger is coming to a closer
• Next Sunday we will ask to Zion to meet regarding our move
• During the Q&A session next Sunday, moving committee will be formed
• A van is needed to pick up nursing students from Korea in the morning. Will ask Zion church for the use of van

Setptember 30, 2007
• Move to the Christopher Dock high school facility was voted and tentatively passed (3-0 with 1 abstained). It will be further discussed at the diaconate meeting on 13 Oct. More details need to be worked out with the school regarding the use of additional facilities.
• No further development from Zion church regarding the joint building project.
• Due to pastor Na’s absence, pastor Jin will be preaching Oct 7 worship and lead communion. RE Sam will preside.
• RE Sam will work with pastor DW on the afternoon worship (2 PM).
• New visitors and members dinner is being planned.

Setptember 2, 2007
• Agreed to recommend Sonny Chung for under care of KEP.
• Approved the overture prepared by TE Steve. Decided that the acting clerk, RE Moon, will sign it and mail it to KEP.
• TE Steve will meet with TE Ji this Thursday to discuss for the next steps for merger.
• Agreed that it is too early to rally up the congregation for fund raising since we don’t have a clear picture or saved enough money to do anything yet.
• TE Steve will meet with Maranatha AG board on September 8, 6:30 PM for potential purchase of the building.
• Missionary James Kim’s family settled down at KY. Missionary James is flying to Mexico and driving back up to KY with his car.
• Peacemaker study will start on October as RE Steve J. becomes available.
• Will hire Ann Nam, childcare teacher at LaPitite, as baby sitter for the family group.
• Men’s group will start studying Halftime.
• Women’s group – a study on the life of Jesus.
• Changed communion format – both bread and wine are distributed at the same time to save time.
• Waiting for TE Dongwoo to come up with a proposal for the afternoon service for format and operation. RE Sam volunteered to be the point person for the afternoon service.
• TE Steve will join Manna as a committee member
• TE Steve will visit North Penn Ministrium.
• TE Fuji Kim asked for support and the session decided to put him in our prayer list.
• TE Steve is considering and the session approved for the further studies at Covenant Theological Seminary on Christ-centered preaching.
• TE Steve will attend a conference in Washington, D.C. – Gospel Growth vs. Church Growth from October 31 to November 1 at Capitol Hill Baptist Church.
• TE Steve will have vacation from October 2nd till 9th.
• Recommended Diaconate Board to come up with the next year budget by end of October.
• Decided not to have joint services with Zion on Thanksgiving and Christmas eves this year.
• Cornerstone will have Christmas day service this year.

August 5, 2007
• Missionary James and Grace are in Kentucky. RE Steve and RE Steve will meet them when they come in this area for possible survey trip to Mexico this winter.
• Mid-year review will be held on August 18th at VGX from 9:30 AM till 2:00 PM.
• Decided to write a letter to presbytery for alternating regular meetings between Tuesdays and Saturdays so that more elders can attend presbytery meetings. RE Moon made a motion, RE Steve second it and unanimously approved. TE Steve will write a draft in two weeks.

July 1, 2007
• Mid-year review will be held during August.
• Summer short term mission will be at Hunting Park, Philadelphia. Six students and TE D.W. Kim are in the team.
• A group of men will go to Hunting Park to fix a house on July 7th and July 14th.
• TE Steve and RE Steve are planning for Mexico mission 2008. Will work with Missionary James Kim.
• TE Steve will preach at Christ Community Church on August 5th.

June 3, 2007
• There will be a Presbytery meeting at Cheltenham Church on Tuesday, June 5th at 6:00 PM.
• 7 students signed up for the summer mission at Hunting Park and TE Dongwoo Kim will lead the group.
• TE Na will contact Missionary James Kim for a possible summer mission trip to Mexico next year.
• Small groups for summer are being planned: Thomas Kim’s on Tuesday, Stewarts’ on Tuesdays (TE Na), Livingstone on Wednesdays (TE Kim), Heyoung’s on Thursdays (TE Kim).
• Building committee and financial committee have not been met last month yet. The importance of financial committee to meet and to find out what we can afford to relocate has been reiterated.
• TE Na suggested our leadership to visit Riverview Church in Chicago on a weekend and learn from their experiences.
• TE Na will attend “Together for the Gospel” on April 2008. (http://www.t4g.org).
• After attending Asian American Conference, TE Na wants to rebrand our vision (strategy?) from multi ethnic to the third cultural.

April 1, 2007
a. Good Friday service will be held at 8:00PM
b. Missionary Richard and Hyeyoung from Belgium will be a guest speaker on April 22.
c. TE Na may attend the Conference at Augusta, Georgia on 24-25 April. The topic is Ministering the Peace and Justice of the Gospel. $150 conference fee plus travel expense.

March 4, 2007
a. Mid week renewal service (Wednesday) will be held during Lent. It will continue from 28 February to 4 April.
b. Devotional reading in CD format is being distributed during the season of Lent for six weeks.
c. Bible reading program prepared by pastor Kim is being distributed.
d. Livingstone will participate a college retreat sometime on late May at NJCA.
e. TE Na is working on China mission this summer. Also, the summer inner city mission is being planned for the youth group.
f. TE Na will lead revival service for the Riverside community church during March 16-18.

January 7, 2007
a. Congregational meeting will be held on January 21, ’07 after the Sunday worship. The meeting agendas are the church bylaw amendment, ’06 ministry and financial report, and ’07 church budget proposal.
b. Pastor DW Kim will lead the 2nd service.
c. TE Na will take a course Asian Religion at Montgomery Community College during January 18- May 8.
d. Seminar “Breaking the 65 barrier” will be held on January 28, 12:30PM.

December 6, 2006
a. Congregational meeting will be held on January 21, ’07 after the Sunday worship
b. RE Park will audit the church’s ’06 finance. A deacon will be selected from the board.
c. Seminar “Breaking the 65 barrier” will be given in January ‘07.
d. TE Na will look into the China short-term mission for ’07.
e. New semester for Bible study will begin on January 9

November 1, 2006
a. Revised church bylaw was distributed for final review.
b. Session had a productive meeting with Zion church session. Main topics were better communication between the two churches and future plan/vision sharing for both churches. As a result, all church matters will be channeled through church clerk: RE Jae Park for Cornerstone and RE Taehoon Yoon for Zion. Also, agreed to form an exploratory committee for both churches’ future vision and coexistence.
c. Diaconate board meeting will be held on November 8, 8:00PM at Thomas’s residence. Deed committees such as administration, mercy, outreach, finance, and fellowship committees will be assigned. Also, will elect its board moderator and clerk.
d. Session and deacon J. Kim will plan ’07 budget on November 22

October 1, 2006
a. Ordination and installation for elected deacons and deaconess will be on October 22nd, 5:00PM at the church. Dinner will be provided
b. Session and diaconate board will meet 2007 budget planning on November 8, 8:00PM at the church.
c. The church will support $300.00 each to Korean Eastern Presbytery and PCA General Assembly.
d. Sunday worship sermons’ topic is Between Sundays Christianity.
e. RE Na will take a vacation in L.A. during October 24-31. Pastor Kim will take the pulpit.
f. Bible Reading program is being developed for entire congregation.

September 3, 2006
a. Special meeting for discussing Church By-Laws on September 24th at R.E. Moon Chung’s Home.
b. Pastor Na’s office hours 10 am to 2 pm on Wednesday and Friday.
c. Joe Kim has been hired as administrative assistant.

August 6, 2006
a. Pastor Na became the moderator of the session by unanimous vote.
b. All five deacon(ness) nominees were recommended for election which would be held September 24. They are Thomas Kim, Sooyun Lee, Doug Suh, Jeanie Kim, and Janet Kim. Steve will meet with nominees to emphasize the responsibilities of deaconship.
c. An installation service for deacons is tentatively scheduled for October 22.
d. The church leaders will have an off site “Vision Casting” retreat on September 3-4 at Mt. Camp, PA near Harrisburg. All deacon nominees are also invited.
e. Pastor Na and Kim are preparing “Grow with God” campaign which is design for Bible reading curriculum. It will encompass all levels of church.
f. The church will provide the conference fee for Women’s conference at Atlanta on September 12-15. It is sponsored by PCA.
g. Pastor Na’s request to take a course comparative religion at the Montgomery County Community College was approved. The cost is $291.00
h. A building fund will be established for future building project. Initial goal is $300,000.00 for five year plan. RE Steve will prepare the proposal and it will be presented next Sunday.
i. RE Sam will share the church vision during the next joint meeting with Zion church.
j. Due to growth of the church congregation, the Sunday fellowship immediately following the worship will be held at the cafeteria starting next Sunday (8/20/06). The fellowship will then move back to the Cornerstone room around 12:30PM to accommodate the Zion church’s fellowship.
k. RE Park suggested all session members to shepherd at least one member/attendee a month and report to the session meeting. Also, recommended delegating deed ministries to the diaconate board to focus on shepherding concerns and teaching such as leading Bible studies.

July 23, 2006
a. Decided to establish a building fund. The Plan, Objective, Action, and Milestone (POA&M) and its financial goal will be discussed on next meeting

July 9, 2006
a. The deacon’s meeting has been on hold due to the scheduling conflict
b. New calendar has been set up at the Cornerstone website
c. No monthly large group fellowship will be held on July

e. Joe Kim will become a church administrator in addition to his current duty as a praise leader.
f. A mid year review retreat will be held on Labor Day weekend (September 3-4) for church officers (elders and deacons). There will be no church retreat this year
g. The session will meet on July 23rd (Sunday) at RE Chung’s residence to discuss the vision of the church
h. Pastor Na will meet with the Shepherding committee of Eastern Korean Presbytery to discuss the installation of senior pastor
